Yes the 260 gr will penetrate a big bear completley. You need to specify the Winchester 260 load that uses the original jacketed, swaged softpoint that they buy from Freedom Arms. They are very hard alloy and not meant to expand. Remember that with expansion, you give up penetration which is a priority with bears!! Winchester also makes a couple of hollow points, but the only one I would use on bears or moose would be the one with the Nosler bullet and then only if I couldn't find the mentioned hard "softpoints". For most of my handgun hunting I cast my own bullets, but that is A WHOLE other story. . I believe that Boondock Sporting Goods in Eagle River handles the ammo.
