I'm colecting parts for my next CTD project It's a 99 Dakota ex cab

I was going to run a auto transmission and I dont know a thing about

them my rams have always been NV5600-4500 so this is a first

I want to use as many dodge parts as possible was going to use a 4BT

for power but if I can't find one for the right price it might become

a 6BT or P-pumped24V anyway to my question is the 47 and 48re

transmission the same electric controll wise I think I can use the Dakota computer

to controll them (from what I've read on some other sites. )

the Dakota was a 5. 9 gas with a 45 RE and so far what I've found

they are very similar other than the size.

thanks in advance for the reply's:confused:

i,m going to say they are to different to work i used a 47rh and the pcm out of the donor truck to work the trans there is not many of the 60 wires that have to be used for the od and tconv to work if i converted again i would consider suncoasts electronic valvebody for a 47 re that only needs tps power and ground sounds like a sweet setup good luck converting the dakota its a tight fit but doable i even had room for twins have fun tony

Thank you for the reply I think I'll have a ton of room if I use a 4BT

and I also wanted to build a small set of twins for it maybe a S-200

S-300 set up. even at that I think I'll have more room under the hood than

I had with the V-8 If I go with a 6cly things will get a lot tighter.

what kind of project truck did you build?

Find a marine 4B-250 3. 9l as a starting point. It has an inline pump and the better pistons and rods from the 370hp B5. 9 I think. It is basically the same as the 4BT with the stuff above and a water to air intercooler. Would be a much better starting point, although you would not use the intercooler. http://www.miamiyachtworks.com/4B-250.pdf

Thanks for all the info but I'm noy having any luck finding any in line pump

motors for what I think is a fair price, most I've run across are ve motors

and am I thinking right that to convert one I would have to change the front gear cover like the 5. 9 and would a 5. 9 gear cover work, are the inline pumps

for the 4BT the same as the 6 will the govener springs del valves etc work.

if I can't find a inline engine were would be a good place to look for a pump?
