Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 47 RE accumulator question

How many springs are supposed to be in there? I know there's one between the piston and the valve body, but is there one above in the trans? When I pulled the VB the spring took off, I found 1, but no other. I'm pretty sure there was only 1. Everything I have read says to "install the spring, if it has one".

From 99 FSM: there is a small diameter spring above the accumulator piston (inside the end of the piston) and a larger diameter spring below the piston ( between piston and valve body). bg

Don't worry - the second spring was not used in diesel applications - at least every one I have had apart.

Thanks guys! I pulled the VB from the trans that was in the truck and it didn't have one either, so I put 'er together.
