:confused:My transmission is starting to show signs of failure. It is original at 593,000 kms. never has any problems except replacing gov sensor and transducer at 590,000 kms.

When I removed the pan to do the work found several pieces of lining about 1/2 to 1. 0 in long.

transmission is still shifting normally with no slippage.

I was wondering if this lining is from a disc or band. Is there any way to tell for sure? If its from a band is the band replaceable without removing the transmission?

I dont want to overhaul or replace it at this time if I can avoid it,especially since its still working ok.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Without a tear down no one can really know where it came from.
But, my guess is the front band. Has it ever had water in the trans?
I would just adjust the band and drive it.
As soon as you notice it slipping (in 2nd gear) do a tear down.
There are some who claim to be able to replace that band in the truck, but I never have.
