47re band adjustment

What is the spec on band adjustment on a 47re ? On my dtt they wanted 1/4 inch so I used the end of the 1/4 inch inch extension . How much oil should this transmission hold

On my build sheet:

Torque to 72in LB, then
Front Band 2- 1/4 Turn
Rear Band 3- 1/4 Turn


Fluid, not sure if this is a dry Torque converter, but from the book for my 96.

Initial Refill Capacity .................... 8.2L (8.6 Qt)

So 72 in lbs plus 2 1/4 turns tighter ??

You back it off after the 72in LB.

Here is the screen shot from the ASTG book, bit my build sheet from Goerend lists the ones above for the turns. They say that's for all 47/48 RE's.

I had DTT for many years (15-ish) and it died, well 2nd gear band was toast and other's were on the way. For both the new Trans and DTT (built by same builder) I was told "Stock" settings on the bands. The info above = Both tq to 72 "inch pounds" then back off - Front 1-7/8 - Rear 3, from recollections of many fluid change/services over the years seem correct.

Sounds good thanks the last dtt I had I was told 1/4 inch on the one bad can’t honestly remember what the other was
