Hey

A lad wants me to convert his 1990 1st gen to a 47re

Can anybody help me with this conversion

Need wiring help

Have complete donner truck 97

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Since you are trying to install an RE its an added problem because there are more controls that need addressed.

You have the donor truck so swapping the wiring harnes, ECM, PCM, etc, is going to be the best bet. The ECM is controlling a lot more on a 2nd gen than it is on the 1st gen. Since the 97 is not a STORM block you should be able to swap the sensors and such.

How the feeds to the dash are different and how to do that will take some research though.

Best bet is to find a 47 RH for it. Simple electronics and you can use switches for OD and lockup. I have a 47RE in my 97 and it was a headache to tune to shift right after the rebuild. I had to replace all the solenoids and the pressure temp sensor in it. Not a cheap rebuild, and that's not counting the converter. If you have an over voltage to the trans it will burn up the solenoids.
