I have recently purchased a 2003 with the 47RE transmission. Is there any major problems with it. I want to add a Mag Hytec deep trans cover & a diff cover for the 10. 5 rearend. I'm getting this vehicle Alaska Ready! Military move time come April 06. Here is a pic of my 03 2500 Quad Cab SB. :D

There are a couple of trans recalls for some 03's one is for a ck valve and the other is for a cooler line, have your vin run to see if they apply to yours. There is also a flash for improved power when towing I would do if it was mine.

My CAlifornia version '03 (SO) has 72k on it with no problems so far. The only mods I've made are the MagHytec double deep pan on my 47RE, and the T-Rex suspension (predecessor to the Kore systems). I change my oil at about 4-5k and everything is fine. I'm sure the 48RE is a stronger transmission, but unless you're really bumping up the power, you should be fine. It's been through some dirt in Baja and I love it!

Who would update the flash? The dealer I had a VIN check run today no outstanding items.

The flashes are not found by vin. You must enter current software# and look for updates.

My truck also has the 47RE, no problems so far with 33K miles. Mine is the stock SO/250hp non-california verison. I changed trans fluid at 30K and will probably keep it changed at 30K mile intervals. Also added a trans gauge just to keep a eye on those temps.

"one is for a ck valve ". Tell me more. I havent seen anything about this. I have the latest TDR mag in front of me with all the TSB's, no mention of a ck valve.

That may have been a rapid response only and we caught them before any were delivered to the public.
