Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 47re Question

Hello all,

decided to do a fluid change on the transmission, siiting in the garage, dripping away, wondering if there is anything else to do while I have the pan of besides adjusting the bands and changing the filter, fluid was not bad looking, a little dark but still lots of red to it and did not smell burned, probably had 54000 miles on it. only transmission related issue I have is that sometimes under light throttle, in 4th, it looks like the tq starts to lock up,rpm drops a little, tq decides it is not going to lock up, rpm increases by about 300 for a couple of seconds and than the tq does lock up with normal 500rpm drop. any suggestions on this?? thought I change the fluid and adjust the bands and see what happens.

It is my first time posting here. Sorry i don't have all my profile done yet. I have been experiencing that same thing in my 1999 47RE. Just took it to a shop today and when they pulled the pan to inspect found 2 peices of the overdrive retaining ring. The main mechanic's first words were " He is probably having problems with overdrive". I will be getting the work done on it later this week and will let you know what it actually is.
