150,000 on my 47re and I can feel it starting to shift bad and some little slippage in OD. Can someone give me advise on what to ask for when having it rebuilt? I pull a 14,ooolb 5th wheeler several times a year and I want a trainnny bulit to hold up extremely well. Any advise is appreciated and any adivise on transmission rebuilt shops in Central florida is appreciated also.

I'm also in need of some rebuild advice. Can't help you on a transmission shop, for I live in East Texas. I tried the BDTD a few months ago and decided against it (didn't care for the transmission shutter). To this day, I still have a slight vibration with the EZ on level 4 or stock. Couple of weeks ago, took it to the dealer for diagnosing and reflash. This cleared up most of the problem. In lieu of buying a complete transmission, I'll most likely go with an overhaul and upgraded vb,tc and shafts. Not looking to get too crazy with hp.

cbhunter, give suncoast transmission a call, they seem to be on the up and up. Spend the big money on a quality torque converter, valve body and a dd mag-hytec pan.

If your towing or want to do somelimited upgrades my advice would be Dave Goerend at Goerend Bros. Transmissions (google it). All the rest build great pieces but I think Goerends does the most with what is there without adding a lot of parts.

CB - I think the main thing you want to do is find a reputable transmission builder in your vicinity - someone you can trust. A good builder has a rep to protect and will steer you straight. Call SunCoast, ATS, Goerend, DTT and just talk to them - you'll learn a lot - after that your decision will become easier.

I liked SunCoast and got loads of good information from them (I really liked SunCoast), but their local builder/installer didn't return my phone call, so they were out. ATS - well... after reading a bit about them on this site I felt like they probably have a well-marketed product, but their local presence left something to be desired. I talked to Dave for a while and would have probably gone with him if he was somehow closer to my location. I finally went with DTT - I bought in to their philosophy of keeping MY transmission and just putting big, tough, proven parts in it. I didn't go with a super-trick multi-disc TC, just their single-plate workhorse TC. I talked with their local builder many times before I forked over the bucks (and lots of them... ) I was convinced that my builder was a bona fide pro from stem to stern - even visited his shop before handing him a check.

I now have about 25,000 miles on my DTT 48RE and it still yanks my fiver around with authority. I'm sure that most of the top four trans builders will do you right. I picked DTT and haven't had a minute of trouble - I'd do DTT again without a thought.

Make the calls and go with your gut. Good luck.

I bet $2000 to $2500 at Goerend can get you an upgraded valve body, triple disc torque converter, and shafts.

That's my plan after my extended warranty is up at 118k miles. I only have 70k on the truck right now.

Of course, it's easy for me to say go with Goerend not only because of the fact that I hear nothing but good things about his shop and products, but he is only 200 miles straight South of me too.
