Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 47RE ring gearattachment

I'm getting parts together to rebuild my 47RE including a new TC. I've built 727's and found the starter ring gear on the converter. Illustrations of after market TC's don't show a ring gear. My shop manual shows an illustration indicating the ring gear is on the TC. Is it attached to the flex plate? Can I use my old ring gear on a new TC? I'm confused. PK

Starter contacts the flex plate. Add an updated flex plate to your wish list.

thats right,the gear is on your flex plate. you really don't need to up grade unless you going to go above 450hp,then it's a good idea. MerryChristmas.
