I'm asking this question for friend of mine so go easy on me.
He's got a 2000 model 2500, automatic, 4x4, extended cab, long wheel base with 200k on the ticker.
The transmission has only been serviced not ever rebuilt to our knowledge.
The problem is every so often the truck will not shift out of 1st gear. It just happens out of the blue. I can't really tell you what all he has done to try to fix it but I know a few things he has done to try.
He first replaced the gov. pressure solenoid in the transmission, did'nt work.
He also replaced the PCM, did'nt work ither.
He is a computer and electronics wiz, and he somehow discovered that when it does this he can shut the truck off and turn the power off to the pcm via a switch he installed to do so and that will work for a while, maybe a hour or a day or a week or 3-4 months but them it does it again.
Any of you run across this sort of thing before? Any help would be appreciated.
