Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 47re to nv4500 question

I was wondering if the ecm's have to be switched when you replace the automatic with a 5 speed. Also what is the most difficult and time consuming part of the conversion and, what, if any pointers you guys can give me that have done the swap. Im not the mechanic just the other set of hands, but we will be working on my truck and would like everything to go as smooth as possible. Thanks in advance, Aaron.

I'm not sure if it's the ECM or PCM. But one or both will not see the AUTO anymore and will set the CEL. (check engine light)

we are swapping the 5 speed of a 01 3500 dually to my truck, will the ecm and pcm be interchangeable from his truck to mine? Also what about the shifter for the auto? Does the instrument cluster have to be removed?

did the convert on my truck in june of 08 you do not need any computer changes or at least i did not on my 99 2500 4x4 just have to connect a couple of wires and run a wire for the pedal from the transmission do not unplug the wire under the dash for the clutch did this on my dads 95 2500 2wd also in oct 08 no problems out of either cruise works on both an no check engine light

shifter comes out very easy pull the plastic covers off the column there is a pin that holds it in pair of channel locks an push it out an there is a little tab with a torx screw in it remove the tab so you dont have to worry about the column movin from park an not bein able to turn the key off an removing it before you replace cover move the black plastic shifter trim over the hole an reinstall the cover

ok that part sounds simple enough, what about the tps? My mechanic said we would have to swap them also, is this right? It didnt make sense to me, but as I stated above I'm not the the mechanic.

i changed nothin electrical when i did mine works perfect changed nothing electrical on my dads when we did his either no issues with either one in a year and a half
