Just for the other side of the coin. I wanted higher pressures and lacked education on vb mods. I paid about $900 for a bd xstator w/shipping. And $250 for their vb. I was told by the installer that the vb had an $18 dollar transgo in it. so I paid $232 to have an $18 kit installed. After all was said and done. The transmission was in near perfect condition. No repairs needed. I paid $1800 in all for just a tc and vb installed. Add a 300 dollar rebuild kit and r&r an im in about $2600. Numbers for the not do it yourself type.
The 727 is a simple transmission to rebuild. These are still basically a 727 more or less. I was thinking about swapping in a 727 race flight with a dummy converter back when the tcs were having problems.
Ron got a little disgruntled towards a few of the transmission guys. He had a bad experience. I have one of those oversold xstators. Id like to upgrade but its not a priority to me. I had small problems with mine but its electrical not the hardware.
