Need to rebuild my 47RE transmission. I would appreciate any feedback from those who have rebuilt/upgraded their 47RE. I would like to install a good torque converter and perhaps modify or upgrade the valve body as well. I run small boost in horsepower and no exh brake. I just want to get better match on stall speed, better shifting, longer life reliability out of the rebuild. Thanks for your feedback!

Here is some reading for you. If you do a search you will find a ton of information. I had my trans done a little over a year ago and am totally satisfied. I just did approx 5,000 miles from Alaska to SC with the camper in the bed and the trans worked perfectly. There is no comparison between the performance of the stock trans and what I have now. This has exellent firm shift quality and shift points that keep you in the power band. One thing I would recommend is the Controller. It lets you select when the TC comes in and out. Good Luck.

Dave Goerend ROCKS!!! Twice I have called late on Friday and recieved a call on Saturday from someone asking if it was an emergency and each time it wasn't so they said Dave will call me on Monday. I have spent many an hour on the phone with that guy. I can't say enough good things about him, if you can't tell. The others I am sure are fine, but Dave is just a super guy to deal with and treats you very fairly. Give him a call at least.

Best thing to do is to contact each vendor you have an interest in. Ask lots of questions.

This is the best method. Without starting trans war, I am very happy with my DTT setup. At DTT, they go through a list of questions that helps them determine exactly the present (and future) modifications to the truck and how it is driven which helps them build a trans custom to fit your truck. That said, there are other quality tranmissions available from other companies. I called many others and must say that in addition to DTT, I had great service from Goerend's.

I endorse Goerend 100% !!

I just did exactly what you are doing. I had my 47RE that started to go downhill.

Called Dave and got a ned TC single clutch and a VB. Dave sent all the parts, an ATSG manual for transmission, new front clutch block (to be replaced with mine).

Installed everything wednesday afternoon and..... WOW, my truck is not the same truck it was before, and ever.

Un-fre@#&ing-believable :--) !!!

I have torque, power and better fuel mileage. Check my signature, I don't have a super BOMBed truck, just few mild upgrades, but the BEST thing I did was investing $ 1175 in Goerend Bros Torque Converter + Valve Body.

Go for it, you WILL NOT be disappointed. Oo.

My experiecne with DTT and Dave Goerend. At the drag strip a couple scientists adjusted my throttle valve cable to have the overdrive shift, but u can adjust that till the cows come home and it wont shift, anyhow cable brook and now i have no third gear because the line pressure dropped and cooked the third gear clutches and it is a DTT trans with 89% converter, billit input and whatever else. Called DTT said it would take 3-4 G's to fix this, Dave Goerend diagnosed the problem over the phone with me and told me all i needed was the third gear clutches, and told me he would walk me through the whole rebuild over the phone. Was gonna order clutches and bands off him, he said nothing is special and i can buy them at my buddys trans shop. So i gave him my business instead of DTT and ordered billit output and billit intermidiate shaft from him. You wont find a nicer guy and a guy that will give it to you straight the first time then Dave Goerend.

Yea the OD and lockup are computer controlled, you can play with the throttle valve cable and it can change the timing of the 1-2 and the 2-3 some. Dave had a similar concern on me tweeking my shift cable, so he is sending me a spring to help me just in case. He has also been working on some super secret(LOL) VB mods to help with full throttle shifts. We will see.

DTT Rocks!

Had my previous truck's RE47 updated/modified by DTT. Went to Bill's shop in Abbortsford, Canada. First rate service and a first rate transmission. I haul a Lance 1161 camper and pull a 15ft toy trailer. Made many trips to Southern California hauling the camper and pulling a big load of toys for the desert, Glacier National Park in 2003, and Alaska last summer. I had the 89% TQ/VB and the smart controller. Very satisfied customer. Check them out. DTT has builders across the nation. You won't be disappointed.
