Continuing from my "Overflow Valve" thread, wondering if Gary upgraded the converter also. if so which brand and model? I've always felt that the factory converter on the 47RH does a real injustice to our trucks. Just can't take advantage of all that low end torque that available.

As far as the 47RH, I had it rebuilt at around 170k miles. Rebuilder supposedly used HD parts, new valve body, and a TransGo shift kit. The shift kit really made a difference - crisper shifts. I replaced the steel lines and hoses with hydraulic hoses from a local hose shop. I also added a much larger transmission cooler.

I recently had the output shaft bearing at the rear of the transmission replaced. It was really howling and could feel it in the transfer case shift lever. I thought it was the transfer case itself, but they checked it and found it was in great shape. They did recommend I start putting a few bucks back for another transmission rebuild though. I currently have 299k miles on the truck. Hope this info helps.
