If I try to pass with more than just a little go peddle , it seems to down try to downshift [ goes out of OD & LO ] then the tach goes up , but no pull , until I get out of it & just ease the go P .
Someone suggested that it was the governor springs , would those be replaceable from the out side by pulling the gov. ?
Also is there a trans repair site ?
Thanks John

Your trans is working ok. The kickdown thing does not work very well for our diesels. Look at the "TC lockup credentials" thread in this forum. Especially at Vaughn's remarks about the way his works and Howard's response to that.

Thanks Joe , I forgot that it also does it from a stop , sometimes when at a stop & its obvious that the guy next to me is going to try to cut in front & I get on it to take off fast it will do the same .
I adjusted the bands & that seemed to help a little & get rid of the hard jump shift at OD .
I was thinking of adjusting the pressure at the same time but did not have the right tool , now its bend a while & have forgot what I needed to adjust the pressure .

The bands have nothing to do with the shift to OD. That is done by a piston in the tail shaft where the OD clutches are. Check your governor pressure. It should be close to what your speedometer says, that is, at 20 MPH you should have about 20 PSI of governor pressure. If that pressure is way off there is a little valve in the governor that may be worn. It's cheap. The labor for replacing it is not cheap. Check your service manual for how the transmission works. There is a chart of which bands and clutch packs are engauged for each gear. There is also a trouble shooting chart.
