Does any one know if my 47rh transmission can get reflashed, or does the PCM need to get replaced? The TSB# is 21-04-95. Any help would be nice.

Controller software numbers for this TSB are 4798745 & 4856080. The seriel number on the PCM must be one of the following. . 56028335 or 56028336. The reflash will raise the Lock Up speed up to around 52 to 55 MPH. Check around on cost to have this done at the local dealers as price will vary. At least in these parts they do. Let me know what you think if you decide to have it done. Hope this helps and your seriel number qualifies. Dave

gotboost,

I hope yours qualifies, that would help solve one of the most aggravating, and what can be very costly, problems associated with the 47RH.

My PCM can't be reflashed and I am stuck with modifying the TPS, installing the "Mystery Switch" and whatever else I can think of to prevent the blasted thing from shifting into lockup at the wrong times.

DC sells us trucks to tow our trailers with, equipped with transmissions that can't handle the job, then they forget that we exist when it comes time to rectify the problem.

They spend jillions of dollars on advertising trying to catch new customers but refuse to spend a nickel to keep existing customers happy.

Right now I am working on a scheme that will use a speedometer circuit to prevent lockup below a set speed but still allow lockup in 3rd gear.

Thanks for the help. The other day when I went to the local dealer with the problem at hand ,I got frustrated with him when he said "Bring it in, For a 100 bucks well tell you everything" At that point I said "The only reson I baught this truck is because of the Cummins, The dodge part of it sucks. " Of course the sales team and customers heard me say it. OOPS! The truth is I like the truck, But I see how Honda keeps loyal cutomers.

As mentioned above, check other dealers if you are near others. My dealer said 75. 00, but rumor has it others are even much lower yet. Could even be worth a drive some day just for the sake of not feeling ******* over. As far as customer loyalty and satisfaction, I for one do NOT believe it exists when it comes to DC dealers. The last Dodge I bought prior to my 95 was in 1973. It took me until 1995 to give them a try again and it was simply because of the Cummins engine (PERIOD). Hope your seriel number matches up with the TSB.
