My Engine Is Back In

Hey all. I've had my 05 3500 drw w/ the 48re and 4. 10s for only a week (about a 1000 miles so far). I love the truck, but I have one question for others who have had more experience w/ the 48re. Does anyone elses truck "lope" when you place it manually in 2nd? Mine does everytime I coast at low (up to about 20 mph) when I've selected 2nd. Just wondering if this was common. No other complaints about the slushbox so far.

Thanks for reading.

By loping I mean that the entire truck rocks back and forth, gently, but often enough to prob. make people carsick if it was left in 2nd @ that speed. Almost feels like it shifts every 4 or 5 seconds, but the rpms remain low, so I don't think thats happening

does it feel like its shifting between 1st and 2nd rapidlly, cause mine does this and its annoying. Just started doing this @12,000 miles. The 2005 48re is contolled differently this prior years, more computer contolled. Check for codes ,turn the ignition on but don;t start and off and on 3times leaving it on the last time and codes will be displayed on yor odometer. let us know what you find

I just looked up p0191 thru the link on the FAQ page, this is what it said, "Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance," so it probably isn't related... Suppose the easiest solution is to leave it in drive... But I'll call and harrass my dealer instead...

it shouldn't have anything to do with trans, but with all this computerized crap you never know. I have to take mine in also but i'm trying to find someone who actually works in the service dept. that i can trust and they'll do good work even if i have to give them some $ on the side. My last truck truck was a lemon and they only made it worse. but the trans issue has to be resolved cause it i'll kill the trans in the long run.

i got the same problem on my 04. 5 its really annoying exspecialy with the 4wd on i still cant figure it out, im in the process os fixing this thing i have this problem almost 5 months now. . 57,000 in the clock

Thats probably where your problem is, in the fuel system. In 2nd gear manual you have overidden the computer controls and the TC is probably locked. If the motor is surging you can feel that happening where you won't in drive as the TC is unlocked at that speed.

I have some what the same issue but in drive and OD on a downhill coast. It feels like an engine surge at low rpm's. It just started with the ULSD fuel so am not sure it isn't some of the problem or the rail pressure sensor/relief starting to go south.

My 2005 with 4. 10 gears does the same thing (26000mi). Can't idle along in 2nd at low speeds with my foot off the gas pedal like if I was in traffic, pulling my travel trailer. Feels like its shifting real fast makeing 2nd worthless at slow speeds.

I think its DC's way of making me come in to get the damn back-up horn noise recall done. NOT!!!!! Oo.

Of course if they ever do the software fix for an 2005 48re exhaust brake, I may have to bite the bullet.
