Rough Idle and engine runs poorly

Exhaust manifold install. Help!!!

I was doing transmission fluid / filter change yesterday. Decided to adjust bands while I was there, followed factory directions closely. Buttoned it back up, put it in reverse, now it binds up. Now, it takes a lot of pedal to get it to move, then only a few feet (feels almost like the brakes are grabbing).

I've followed recommended fluid change intervals to the letter, never had a problem with this transmission for its 142,000 mile lifespan; this is the only time I've touched the bands.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Sure you used inch/pound torque the adjuster?
The front adjuster is just shy more then finger thight, then back out 1 3/4 Turn?

For the rear I did 72 inch pounds, then backed off 3 whole turns. Front, 72 inch pounds and then 1 3/4 turns. It seems obvious to me that I made the rear one too tight, but I'm confused as I used a brand new inch-pound torque wrench for this.

Band adjustment won't cause that in reverse, both bands are applied in reverse. Does it move in forward gears ok?

I think the term is 'mea culpa...'
Turns out the front adjustment screw moved when I tightened the locknut. I trailer'd it to James Transmission Technology in N Texas- and we found some other issues with this transmission. Long story short - my error didn't cost me a transmission, but it sure didn't help it any. I elected to do a rebuild. James found a snapped OD snap ring along with some other evidence of wear. Ended up with some great billet goodies, a rear main seal (was leaking and looking ugly), output shaft seal, etc. etc. I now have peace of mind, and no doubt that this transmission will go another 150K at least. BTW I cannot say enough about James Transmission Technology in TX - phenomenal shop, great service - his reputation is well earned.

Sounds good, i thought it could be just something wrong with the adjustment.
Hopefully your Technician installed a shift kit already with the overhaul. That helps the transmission a lot to last.
