Just noticed you asked for a 48RE, but posted in the second gen forum, the adjustments are basically the same but here is the 48RE info.

While doing the front band, I also found it helpful to use thread sealant on the stud, and a very thin copper washer under the locking nut. This will keep it from not only leaking and causing a mess, but to prevent the trans control plug(48) from being saturated with leaking fluid, causing shifting behavior problems. Jess
 
HI Thanks for the help. The truck is a 96 & came with a 47RE trans. I wore out the 47RE & they replaced it with a HD 48RE. I'm not sure what the difference is between them, but I knew the band adj. was not the same. I appreciate your help and info. Wayne.
