48re changes from 03-05??

I notice a big difference in my 05 48re vs the 03.

Tow/Haul mode provides firmer shifts, locks the converter sooner and holds it locked longer. I am finding its performance is much improved.



My question is-

• What revisions/changes have been made over the 3 years?
  

Most felt back in 03 the 48 was good to 375hp and that a VB,TC was plenty good to 425. The 05 feels like all it needs is a TC to me and if you were to add power a wise choice would be to run it in Tow/Haul when mashing the go pedal.

The newer version has a heftier thrust washer. I don't know the outcome of the exhaust brake thread where they were testing the stock 05 but it seemed to have been working with the E brake.

I just spent some time comparing the 03 and 05 shop manual and don't see any difference in the valve body or pressures. Another thing I noticed is if the 03 sat for a few days it would take a moment to get fluid pressure and engage, the 05 doesn't do that.
