My transmission has a small leak. Small amounts of oil driping out if the little cover that is held on by 3 screws in front of the transmission pan. I took to dealer and they put dye in the fluid.
Are you seeing drip spots where you park overnight?
My transmission is oily on the front too, because the breather tube goes down the back of the engine and as I drive the air flow throws it against my transmission. I don't see any spots on my driveway so I know my transmission is not leaking. If you were to look under my truck it would look like the transmission was leaking from somewhere.
They are probably using dye to verify your transmission fluid isn't leaking. I'm surprised they didn't atleast explain their rational.
Make sure its not your block heater tube... I thought mine was transmission fluid but it was coolant... Our coolant looks very much so like trans fluid. .
No spots in the driveway. The only place the fluid is, is around that little plate on the front of the transmission. I took the plate off, three screws and was full of some kind of fluid under the plate.
