48Re, how's it holding up with power and towing?

I drove an 04 305 automatic today. I loved it. Are these trannies any better than the 47 RE's? How much power are they putting up with before problems start? What about towing with power?

Try using the Search capability to look for all threads using "48RE AND fail*" for the object and you'll find what I just did: Other than two recalls (wiring harness and a valve) nobody's reported any failures with the 48RE!



Now, I can't tell you about using a chipped engine (yet) but I can attest to the superb job that my truck does whether running empty or at its 23K GCWR.

I've got a bud that tow's 30K on the road with one and has put 100K on it in the last 10 months with no issues.

I tow a 31ft 5th wheel that weighs over 10k and the 48re is holding up just fine. No problems to report what so ever

I was up at DTT last week, There are a few nice chnges in the 48RE and if you want to really push the power DTT has a lot of slick upgrades.

Wow. . I am really suprised at the guy who put 100k in 10 months or whatever that was. I never expected a trans to last that long (48re) Im starting to think the thrust washer thing is BS. .

If my trans didn't last 150k I would be ******. I EXPECT them to last that long. If you're not abusing them any transmision should last that long unless it was a totally poorly engineered POS. JMO.

No problems, but the post feb or march trannies are "supposed to" have the new hard parts and be EB compliant. Have been told stock is good for about 400 rwhp.

they are NOT exahaust brake ready. nick sommer are you all stock? if not that might be why you should not expect the trans to last.
