48re no overdrive

So my father brought his truck from Ny to NC 3/4 of the way he blew a cooler line so he stopped and a guy put a piece of hose on it and he drove the rest of the way aproxamately 200 miles then drove it for a week no problem all of a sudden no overdrive brought to the shop they said it was gov transducer solenoid so they replaced for 350 and said pressures are correct pcm is calling for 4th or overdrive but it's not going in so then he says I need a new transmission is this correct?

Not really, if it is just the OD brake clutches those can rebuilt wit the trans still in the truck. If they have not tested the mechanical function yet then they don't know and just want to charge for a full rebuild. If they did not replace the gov transducer that could still be the issue.

I think I'm going to try someone else because everything seems ok except the it won't go into od just doesn't seem correct so thanks for the info I will update soon thanks
