I was an automatic all the way , until I got behind the wheel of a dually with a 6 speed. :--) My conversion was instant, and glad of it. :D I have actually enjoyed shifting around town, or highway, a real joy to drive, no regrets!

2004. 5 600, 6 speed, 3. 73, Black on Black, 19ft Ranger Bass Boat, 14 ft ATV hauler, soon to be 35-40 ft GN freight hauler.

6 spd.

Sold my '01. 5 just to get it. Its personal preference and useage plays a big part, but I'll never go back (unless my knees give out!). Resale up in my area is much higher on the 6 spd. Opposite is true with the GM and the ford is somewhere in between. Deserved or not, the Allison is generally percieved as a great transmission and this is reflected in the resale value of these trucks, for the same reason the Dodges are worth more as a six speed. Why? Again, deserved or not, the Dodge has a reputation for a week auto transmission.

My advice? Decide on your present and future usage and buy the truck you want. Don't worry about resale value.

Cheers,

Dave

Okay, Drove a 6 Speed today. What a great ride with the 6 speed. Probably will be placing an order for one shortly.

For those guys in MD that want to drive one, they have a 2500 @ Century Dodge in Mt. Airy!
