I have researched transmission temp gauges and probe placement in other threads. I went with Isspro from Geno’s (along with EGT and boost gauges) and installation is going OK so far.

I have seen posted some have used ports on the transmission (48RE). What size are the ports? I was supplied a 1/8 NPT probe and there is no way it will go in any of the ports on the passenger side as many have posted.

I will probably go with the Mass Diesel fitting, but am wondering if it is for 1/8 NPT or the size on the transmission ports, whatever that is.

Thanks in advance.

The probe is to long to let the treads catch, you will need to get an adaptor and it will work fine, I used the rear port on the right side of the transmission, not the one facing the rear but the one on the right side, it works fine, I get good readings from this port.

I guess you are talking about a 1/8 NPT to 1/8 NPT adapter deep enough to accommodate the long probe. Is this likely to be a specialty item or a Home Depot type item?

Thanks!
