Get used to it folks!

Mine does the same thing. DC says it's normal.

There has been plenty of posts on this topic, with no mechanical fixes.

Best remedy I have heard is drive it hard, or harder and the problem goes away!

And they're actually right.

I'll drive it till blows so they can pay for a new one or lemonlaw the sob like my last ram.

All joking aside they will probably release software updates for these trans, although my friends at the dealer said to me today that it kind of common and usually it is the governer preassure solenoid.

Anyone have any updates or new fixes for this issue? Is any new software available yet? What aftermarket parts short of an aftermarket transmission are available that could help? The truck has 23,000 miles on it now- I don't remember the hunting around being this bad when it was new.

I think I'm going to take it to the dealer this week to at least get something on record. I hate to drive this thing around hard just to get decent shift quality with Diesel prices this high :)

Ok. so the latest fun with the transmission:..... now when I put it in tow haul mode above 50mph..... it downshifts to 3rd... . and the revs jump..... but at 40 on the brakes... . it does nothing... . someone was smoking when they wrote the logic for the TH function.

Just put the darned thing in tow/haul and drive it. Its not a darned cadilac its a pickup. Mine hunts around a little when in town but otherwise runs fine. Remember that these trucks are designed for loads, not feather footing. If you NEED to feather foot it buy a Ford Focus. Its a truck. Expect it to drive as such.

BTW - Its a really nice truck at that.

Sounds like it went from OD to 3rd, normal, what would you want?

It won't down shift to second until you get to a slower speed.

Well I took my truck to the dealer today. The tech rode with me and I got it to do it a couple of times. He seems to think it might be slipping a little bit as it shifts back to first. Something is not quite right with it for sure. If it is really slipping, wouldn't it do it all the time?

The tech is going to drop the pan next Monday and take a look. I guess there is a method with the pan down to check clutch application. He also said he may be able to turn up the line pressure a bit to improve shift quality. Any opinions on this?

Mine was doing it. The dealer replaced the governor solenoid and upped the pressure a little and it has completely dissappeared.
