I have searched for this problem and didn't see anything. Twice in the last week, I have started my CTD, gave it a minute to warm a little, and shifted into reverse, and it sat there. Would not move - seemed as though it was still in park. So, both times, I put it back in park, and then back into reverse, and all was well. Has anyone else had this happen? Just trying to get all the info I can before I take it to the dealer.....

Next time this happens just give the handle a jiggle. It may indicate that it is in gear but it really is between gears. I had this problem and when i hit the go pedal all I was doing was reving the engine. I thought something had broke. I went to move back to park and I had moved the handle a little past R and the truck went into neutral but still indicated R. Its along the same lines as the TSB that came out about a month ago letting people know that their truck is in gear when leaving the vehicle.

Friend with a 03 the aoto shifter is not right. Gets all messed u[p about what gear etc. He did some adjustments and its better but still goofy.

that same thing happen on my 73 jav in my sig. i have a high stall converter on it and it need to warm up to get it to move. just let the transmission warm up and get the fluid flowing for a while then try moving. Or you can just brakestand it to warm up the transmission for about 5 seconds and then it should work. i don't know if this is the same for diesels. i think the stall is around 2000 or so. didn't want to go when i took a truck for a test drive and the dealer said it was normal. ??? the truck was just cold. don't know if this helps?

mine has done this a couple times. what ive noticed is it seems like sometimes the visual letters pause like its thinking or something causing you to either stop to early or late and actually ends up inbetween gears. i think this is why there are so many problems with runaway trucks also. I have watched my numbers seem to hang then change all of sudden without even touching the handle. I think we will be seeing an official recall for this problem soon..... My cable was actually out of adjustment as well but it still does it sometimes.

Thanks for the replies. I am not one that likes to jump on every little problem and declare that DODGE is doing a crappy job, but this does seem to warrant some attention.

If it is a SHIFTER problem I seen to think it has to do with this NOT akll the way in park thing and trucks rolling. Thats kinda what happened to my buddy with his.
