MY T/C LOCKS UP IN 2ND GEAR AT 27 MPH. WHEN SHIFTED TO DRIVE IT LOCKS UP AT 46 MPH AND O/D IT LOCKS AT 49 MPH. I TRIED THE RUN LEARN THING AND NO DIFFERENCE. ATS SELLS A COMMANDER THAT WILL GIVE ME CONTROL OVER THE T/C BUT I'M NOT TOO THRILLED ABOUT SPENDING $400. ANY OTHER IDEAS ON HOW TO GET THE 3RD GEAR LOCKUP TO OCCUR AROUND 37 MPH??

Are you getting 2nd gear lockup consistently at 27 mph, even if the transmission is running cool? The service manual says it is activated by transmission temp. If the second gear lockup is consistent at speed it is news to me.

If you have the gear lever in 2nd the converter will lock up around 27mph. With the gear lever in drive it wont lock up in 2nd at all. Mine locks up in drive around 47mph and 50 to 52 in overdrive. I want mine to lock up sooner too so I installed a lock up switch to manually lock it up when I want to, but you have to unlock it too when you come to a stop, which isn't that big of a deal.

I have expierence that on the 48re's as well. On my 03 47re it locks up right after it goes into 3rd, if the transmission is warm.

I solved it for my customers by putting in a BD Towloc and you can program the speed in which it locks up with your laptop or palm pilot.

If you ground the TCC Wire it will set a code.

I was looking at the ATS commander too, but they said you can only keep lockup until about 30 mph without their valvebody installed.

If you ground the right wire it wont set a code,It doesent on mine or a couple of others that I know of too! Its B11 orange with black tracer wire and you also have to put in the jumper wire in the trans relay.
