I remember something about a sender hookup from the return line for the trans temp guage. This could be purchased from your friendly Dodge dealer if I remember correctly. Does any of this ring a bell?

I think it was a T that hooked into the return line and you just hookup the sender at that point.

I'm new at this auto trans thing, my last Ram was stick:)

If you don't have money laying around cluttering up the floor, you can install a B&M drain plug kit from Autozone or Geno's etc, for about $10. 00. I have one waiting for me to install it. Had one in my '95 and it worked fine.

1/8 npt plugs on rear pass. side of 48re: I saw a post about this in connection w/ temp guage, but didn't pay attention. I checked my trans, and sure enough the plugs are there. I just don't know if they are in contact w/ fluid where one would want to monitor temps. This looks like it would be great place to put in a temp probe. Anyone know?

Pressure Port Temp Sensor Location

There are 4 fluid pressure ports on the 48RE transmission. All of them must be in contact with the fluid or they wouldn't be fluid pressure ports. I took out all 3 on the passenger side an probed for depth with a bamboo skewer. The one in the rear (by the output shaft) seemed deep enough for the Genos probe that I received. So! thats where I stuck my probe. It seems to work just fine, I get about the same kind or readings that I got from the probe in the Mag-Hytech pan on my '99. If anyone sees anything wrong with this idea I would appreciate knowing.
