I will agree ,that the curve is not as strong down low. but remember they are only worried about "stock" trucks. my biggest complaint, and most will agree, is the weak TC. that being said when does the TC lock-up? when the cummins is down low in the curve, not. I also hear of the v-b complaints, while one the older trucks I would agree, they left much to be desired and for improvements. which they have done. lock up is much quicker now due to the v-b mods over the older units. as well as quicker shifts. problem here is you get into,do you want to please the minority(modders) or the majority (stockers)? I can assure you the minority is not going to win. the first thing,I did on the auto's is change the v-b. we had done some, back in 97 doing proto's for enginneering, which is what led to the better v-b. I have a modded v-b from engineering for a 47 if anyone in the area would like to do the swap,it is a brand new unit just swap them here. did this swap on my 97 that had 267 rwhp and 670 lbs truck had over 140,000 when it was sold recently, transmission was finally going and needed rebuilt. anyhow anyoone who had v-b complaints please pm me with why you did not like it,thanks in advance. the v-b mod helps the TC lock-up by alowing the fluid to escape much faster, doing so by drilling a . 090 hole above the switch valve. also has mods to separater plate for quicker shifts, these led to design changes in the steel plate allowing TC lock faster, without drilling the hole(in the 48re stock). I can take pics of the v-b for anyone wanting to see what was done.
