What is the Tow Haul button really do in my 2005 3500? I tow a 5000 trailer from time to time, all I see is when I push the button it wants to down shift, on a long say 5% grade going up it keeps it from shifting up, I push the button and take it out of tow haul it drives better, am I missing something here?

To answer your question, it doesn't do alot that is useful... It will delay shifts alittle bit under load, it will down shift out of overdrive (if you select tow/haul) and go to third lockup for a little bit of resistance braking going down a grade... . It WILL NOT lock out overdrive on the 2005...

SO... I have ordered a BD Overdrive lockout control and plan to put the switch right by the window/ lock controls on the door for easy control... It will be right where my left hand normally sits...

I would have to agree that it is mostly useless on the '05s. For '06 you get T/H AND the OD lockout on the same button. I also think that if 5000lbs is all that you are towing that you aren't going to see much difference. On the other hand, if you were pulling 10-15k in the mountains you would appreciate it more. It should give you torque convertor lock-up in second and third gears, do it sooner, and hold those gears longer before shifting up.

BD Overdrive Lockout update

Last night UPS delivered my BD Overdrive Lockout Control.

Of course, I didn't have the package 5 minutes before I was reading the instructions and preparing for the installation.

Just like any other BD product, it has great instructions and can be installed by almost anyone that is not too intimidated by having to cut PCM wires

As I stated above, I was going to put a switch to control the lockout on my door window/lock control panel, but that is unnecessary. The BD control uses a signal for the T/H switch on the column. All you do is tap it twice after selecting tow haul and it is active. Works like a charm!

It has an indicator led that lights up when the lockout mode is active. It flush mounts anywhere your would like. I am putting mine in the A pillar Grab handle/ Fuel gage pod right at the 10 o clock position above the gage...

I honestly feel that this solves my biggest problem. That problem was having to maintain 45-50 mph while towing my boat out to Lake Mead while in the park. Before, The trans would lock in O/D and lug. Sure, I could select T/H but, it would upshift and lug as soon as the pedal pressure lightened up.

Tips: Read all instructions, realize that the picture of the pin location is that of the block end, Color code the wire diagram for super easy reference.

Cheers, Bill
