I just recently got my BD X-monitor all nicely wired up and pretty. I have been monitoring my transmission temps and wanted some opinions. I have the 48RE with the double deep Maghytec pan, and am still running the Mopar ATF+4. The other day I was in traffic unloaded for 1 and 1/2 hour going zero to five miles an hour to zero, again and again. My trans temp got to 238 degrees... .comments?? Also when running mid day, just around the town unloaded driving in 70 - 80 degree weather I will get upper 220's. Are these numbers high? I currently have the "warning" alarm on the BD set to 245 degrees, is this too low?
I know about the Dodge dummy switch on the transmission which is supposed to keep to you from burning it up by reducing load and increasing flow through the cooler, etc. However, I want to know the proper operating ranges and not rely on the factory dummy system. Thanks for your comments.
