48RE, which transmission filter?

Time to do a fluid/filter change while I'm off this long weekend. I seem to remember reading that the earlier filter for the 94-97 transmissions is better to use than the new style filter. Looking at the Geno's website, that would be part number 3515996. Is this the one to use or stick with the stock one? Thanks for the input.

When I did my transmission service I ordered the stock filter. It's been working fine with no problems.
