48re will not go into Park

A couple of days ago, I went to put the truck in Park and it wouldn't go. Consequently, you can not get the key out.

Called the dealer and talked to a tech. He figured it was something elec. , maybe a connector came loose.

Now he thinks it is something inside and they may have to drop the transmission?



Everything is stock. I tow a 5th wheel weighing around 10,000.



Any ideas!

Go get a new shifter linkage from the dealer, it's probably under warranty. This will become a safety issue.

Could be related to the Gear Lockout Feature when you need to step on the brake to allow it to go into gear. We had a Ford do that to us at work... Couldn't get the thing back into Park.

The dealer still hasn't come up with an answer.



My thought too, was that it could be linkage. Since the key won't come out, the brake circuit could also be the culprit.

mine had the opposite problem in that you could put it gear without stepping on the brake. dealer had to replace the instrument cluster as the interlock wouldn't work this could be along the same lines. he said something fried in there.
