Has anyone experienced rear planetary, rear annulus gear or rear thrust washer failure/trauma???

Just had my transmission DTT'd and the thrust washers were wore to bare metal. This was with 24000 miles with no heavy towing. I was told and believe that this is going to be a 50000 mile problem for owners of the 48RE.

im pretty sure mine has a 7/100000 mile warrant... GULP* i hope my drivetrain warranty isnt 3/36000. . is it ?

I think all dodges have a 7/70000 warranty on the DT and 3/36000 on everything else (well mostly everything else). . at least that's what i've got and what they advertise here.

I've read that D/C upped the whole drivetrain to7/100. So it's their baby til then. I'm wanting to get an auto,so I'm watching these threads closely... Doug

they did on some vehicles sold under the power train pledge. this is not on everyone sold,then it is as stated above 3/36 bumper to bumper,7/70 drivetrain. as for warrantees on the autos. I can tell you this I will have the numbers to post,in claims per 100 units built. as this is the plant I work in. I can assure you of only one thing we have less than gm. just a lil behind ford. last numbers we seen in big meeting were 3. 2 ford,3. 5 d-c ,6. 1 gm on the heavy duty units only. numbers from jd powers. as for major problem I can only say they don't see it yet. I will only say this stock truck auto ok,mods =NOPE.

What is your opinion of moderate increase for non-heavy towing crowd? Many of us just like the litte extra when lined up with brand F/C?

Am I the only one that finds it amusing that GM has had the highest failure rate. Surely it can't be, for that would mean that the 1000 Allison isn't the finest transmission ever produced by man!

for that application I think you would be fine. the 97 I had has over 140 thousand miles with the tst plate and other mild mods. it does however have a modified v-b that was built in the plant,and is very similar to the production unit,only they(production units) shift softer.
