Cummins in a '49/'50 Merc

cummins in 05 f350

My Cummins Shop Manual does not break down the different CPL Builds. I have used (2)4BTA, CPL 857 in my trucks. Now searching for (2) more 4BTA's I have located a CPL 1260 and a CPL 767. My CPL 857's are rated 120hp at 2500 RPMS, liquid cooled intercooler (engine coolant)

My Cummins Shop Manual shows the;

CPL 767 being a 4BTA, 105hp at 2800 RPMs

CPL 1260 being a 4BTA, 105hp at 2500 RPMs

What are the differences in these 2 engines compared to the CPL 857 which is higher power ?

The seller told me that both have air cooled intercoolers. To my knowledge, air cooled intercooler engines produce more power than a liquid cooled intercooler. ?? Are CPL 767 and 1260 both automotive application engines?

I called Cummins tech support today and the tech told me he has no information to look up CPL Builds ?

Thanks for your help

I had an air to air and removed it because it was restrictive (Saab intercooler). I could not get above 15 psi of boost until I removed it. I intend to put one back on once I buy one that is designed for a bigger diesel. My pics page "4bt engine" folder showed the Saab intercooler installed just before I removed it.
