4BT and 6BT flywheels the same?

Just making sure... Are 4BT and 6BT flywheels the same?

The same

Interchangeable, yes.

The same, not neccessarily.

There are at least fifty configurations of flywheels and clutch/automatic setups for the various installation of 4 and 6 cylinder B series engines. The engine back and the crank are identical on the 4 and 6. Cummins has plates and flywheels for installations from light simis to pickups as well as industrial applications.

Thanks James. The reason why I'm asking is that I have a Dodge NV4500, bellhousing and flywheel that I'll be using with a 4BT.

I used a 99 Dodge Flywheel Housing, Flywheel, Bell Housing, NV-4500 mounted behind my 1999 Cummins 4BTA Recon. Eveything was plug and play. Also have a 93 Dodge NP-205 married to the 99, NV4500.

WM-300, that's some awesome work you did on your Carryall! I just replaced most of the sheet metal in my M715 cab (both floors, inner rockers, outer rockers, cab corners, parts of the firewall) and I really enjoyed seeing your work.

How do you like the 4BT and NV4500?

The 4BTA/NV-4500 is a sweet combo. I am also running 4. 89 ring and pinions in the Diff's. 50 MPH = 1600 rpm, 60= 1950. I have not had it above 65, but higher speeds are sure possible. 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear quite noisy, 4th you can talk in a normal voice and 5th you could listen to CD's. I have 4 wheel disk brakes and tried running with a power booster due to space. Brakes were ok, but in a emergency you would be in trouble. Yesterday, I installed a Hydroboost power unit. Now I have brakes like you would not believe, so much I now have to add a rear proportion valve. Hydratech made a special mount to fit my space requirements. It was a plug and play job.
