The Scout that is. In low range it had broke the front drive shaft and the spider gears in the rear diff. This time in high range it managed to snap the rear u-joint in the drive shaft. Of course there might be something to be said for the driver, hey I'm just learning the limits of the machine.
Went south for the ID4 holiday to friends place for some cool time and fun. They have this pit that they dug for the dirt for their rammed earth adobe house that we get to play in now. The pit is 30' wide slopes down to a 6' wall, one side is silt from all the play and the other side solid. The Scout crawls up the solid side in low range real easy, but on the silt side it's power time. My friend in his big block blazer powers over it no problem. I try it and high center near the top. . So this time I give it more throttle and just as I crest the top there's this loud bang! Snapped off the rear u-joint. Clean break no other damage. I had thought that I was going to stall the 4BT, the revs getting real low, but went full throttle to make it over.
Amazing what low speed torque does to drive train parts. The blazer is running the same u-joint that the Scout has and didn't have any problems. Time for the D60 and some 1520 u-joints
