I want to put a 4bt in a 4x4 ranger does any body know any info or web site's with any info. And did they ever make a factory adapter for a cummins with a ford bell housing bolt pattern? :confused:

4bt with chevy bell housing

i don't know about the ford bell housing but i'm sure you could redrill the chevy bell housing if you have to have the ford transmission. will the ford transmission hold up to a 4bt? also i have a nice 4bt for sale! complete with chevy bell housing! -- email address removed --

yes cummins does make a Ford adaptor plate for the 4b I work on bread trucks and some of the trucks have ford bellhousings-trannys (I think transmission is T19?) with hyd. clutch and some have GM's in them

How hard are they to find ?? Oo. and what bolt pattern big block or small?

they look like big block 351M-460 should not be hard to find check with your local Cummins dealer-rebuilder they might have a used one

Thanks you been a big help :D ,that sucks in another way cause my brother bought one of those kits from fordcummins.com for a swap with a 460 transmission :{

The Ford adaptor is relatively scarce. Avant Salvage in Georgia had approx 35 Frito Lay trucks with Cummins 4B's in them, and only one had the Ford pattern. The adaptor had already been bought by someone, and Benny, the yard owner said that they dont last long when one shows up.

What you can easily do though is buy a steel bellhousing from Lakewood, the racing folks, and weld and/or redrill the transmission pattern to fit whatever transmission you want to use. Easy to do on a steel bellhousing, not so easy to do with a factory housing as they are either cast aluminum or cast iron, neither of which lends itself to rework like you would need to do.

I saw the one on e bay it has a day left on it ,Now I know there out there I wounder how a ford small block transmission will hold up to a 3. 9 thats not stock??? :confused:
