4BT in a 1991 Ford Ranger..?

So has anyone heard of putting a 4BT in a 1991 ford ranger? I want to do it, but I'm not sure where to start at. Any information will Be helpfull.

how about a good reliable 4 speed auto to bolt up to it? thats where i'm leaning towards right now at least

I'd use a Dodge 47rh 4 speed with a Dodge 241 transfer case (if you are building a 4x4). The 47rh is fully mechanical/hydraulic, and only uses a TV cable for shift modulation. The only electrics are for the backup lights. Then you can use a Dodge bellhousing adapter from a 12 valve Cummins to mate it up relatively easily.

The 47RH isnt completely mechanical because the 4th gear and lockup are electronically controlled. I know on my Dakota the 47RH wouldnt go into 4th gear or lockup without either a switch or a ECU so we installed 2 switches.

Forgot about 4th gear and lockup... my bad. At least you can run those off switches and it's probably easier than hooking up a 47/48re.
