4bt in full size chevy?

I was thinking about putting a 5. 9 in a crew-cab long bed chevy. But I found a great price on a 4bt out of a bread truck. If the motor was turned up a little would it be an okay motor for a truck of this size? I almost never tow anything. I just think it would be great to get 20-25mpg out of this truck. Thanks.

I have a 4 bt but not in a fulll size truck just in a ram 50 works great for the woods it goes any where it wants to I have the dodge 5 speed in it . . wish it was the six . . but what can you do If people like what they see it might be 4sale for the right price!!

I have a friend who wants to do the same thing. He has a 89 chevy crew cab 2wd. We are about to put in a 4BT with a hx-35 and some fuel tweaks. I think it should work pretty well with the upgrades and get 20+MPG.

Not a Full size Chev, but I have a 4BTA (cpl-857) in my 1943 Dodge Carryall with a NV-4500 married to a NP-205 turning into 4. 89 differentials and 36 inch tires. Last summer I took a 3411 mile trip and the average for the entire trip was 25. 9115 mpg. 539 miles of the trip was on primitive gravel roads running 20 mph for hours. My curb weight is 7300 pounds and loaded for the trip, I estimate I was close to 8000. My speed is 60 mph at 1950 r's. I believe youwill be real happy with it in the Chev.

i not really shure all i know is that I put a 30 gallion tank on it and it goes for three or four weekends in the woods fri,sat,and sun from sun up till midnight running hard !
