Twin turbo for 02' F350 Cummins Convert

97 Ford F350 gets 04 twin turbo Cummins.

Symptoms: Cranks, and intermittenly starts. Will start and stay running. Problem is intermitten. Always stays running with no issues.

Checked voltage at solenoid, and I am absolutely getting voltage drop.

Ran a relay setup to solenoid, and switch signal voltage drop is still enough to cause same problem--slight improvement.

With jumper, starts every time.

Starter fine, starter relay fine.

One would think that turning switch to run, then cranking would open solenoid.

What are symptoms of failing solenolid?

Run a spring loaded switch to battery feed?

ReWired underHood

Battery was on right. Put my maint-free battery in daughters car and installed Optima on left side. ReWired fusebox pickup wires to left straight to Optima, vice into starter relay. Kept the relay setup, to solenoid. Used 3/4" (00 gage) huge welding cable cable for ground and to starter. It starts good now. Freeing up right side for new Air-filter area. Going to reTurbo and intercool.

Been reworking under hood, built mounts for oil filled P30 mounts (installed) and reset engine, transmission, xfer. Drives like a gasser now. Using that fellas water pan word picture, it went from shaking the water out of the pan, to mere surface motion. Had to trim frame with grinder at starter, the starter barely touched frame. A source of vibration. This would only be a problem for GM BH setups, plenty of space on left.

Have vibration tackled, shifts like glass, so next is sound deadening. Thinking about using sheets of mud-flapp material to create box around engine from fan back on each side, insert piece between oil pan and frame, and and sound deadening under hood.

Its been making runs between Fayetteville, NC and Petersburg, VA and weekday run-around. It stays with freeway traffic Ok. Until I go to 7 degree castor, I have more speed than needed.

Yep, reWired cured it. Key was ignition source direct to battery.
