4bt intercooler

I was wondering how big of an intercooler I should use on my 4bt swap. I've got a first gen I was thinking of having narrowed so it fits my rad opening. So it would be stock height, stock thickness, but instead of 37" wide, it would be 27" wide. Would that work O. K. ? Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you use the ratio of HP to surface area, you will find that the 4BT will need an charge air cooler approximately 2/3 the size of that used on the 6BTA.



BTW, what type of vehicle is getting this 4BT repower?

I'm using a Dodge 46RH with my NP231 transfer case. I'll try to post some pictures,but I'm not very good with computers.

Volvo and Saab intercoolers

Look at the Volvo/ Saab intercoolers. I'm paralleling two for my 1/2 ton '85 Ram Prospector conversion. They are narrower than the Dodge or Ford intercoolers.
