4bt performance

Sclements, tell me more about "I PUT A 4BT IN MY JEEP, TWEAKED THE PUMP, CHANGED TO A 12CM2 HOUSING AND HAVE AWESOME POWER & TORQUE. IT GETS 32-33 LBS BOOST PULLING THE JEEP BODY AROUND. NEXT WILL BE SOME INJECTORS. NEED TO DYNO TO SEE HOW MUCH HP & TORQUE. "

What type of pump do you have on yours, where did you get your base engine from, and what were some of the "tweaks" you did? This sounds like what I am doing but only in a 53GMC.

I GOT MY 4BT FROM ENTERPRISE ENGINE PERFORMANCE NEAR COLUMBUS, OHIO. www.enterpriseengine.com IT CAME OUT OF A FRITO LAY TRUCK. I JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER COMPLETE FRITO LAY TRUCK THIS LAST WEEKEND WITH A 4BT. MINE HAS A ROTARY PUMP MUCH LIKE THE FIRST GEN DODGES, SO YOU CAN DO THE SAME PUMP MODS. I MAXED OUT THE POWER SCREW, AND ADDED A LITTLE MORE PRE BOOST FUEL, THEN RESET THE IDLE. THE TURBO IS THE SAME AS A FIRST GEN, SO THE HOUSINGS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. WITH JUST THE HOUSING IT GOT 20 LBS OF BOOST, BUT WAS KIND OF SLOW, REMINDED ME OF MY TRUCK IN STOCK FORM. AFTER TURNING UP THE PUMP, THE BOOST SHOT UP OVER 30 LBS AND IT PULLS REALLY HARD.

Thanks, sclement! I am going junk yard hunting this weekend. For me, seeing is definently learning. Oo. Next question to anyone, can the rotarty pump be changed to a P7100 type pump on these 4bt?

THERE IS A INLINE PUMP VERSION ON NEWER 4BT'S, HOWEVER TO CHANGE ONE OVER I'M PRETTY SURE YOU WOULD NEED TO CHANGE THE TIMING COVER AS WELL JUST LIKE THE 6BT'S. I WOULD HATE TO SEE WHAT THAT WOULD COST. I'D LOVE TO FIND AN INLINE PUMP ENGINE, THAT'D HAVE TO BE AWESOME!

Guess What I Found?

I found one in a Chips truck. It's a '97 with 144,000 on the clock. Automatic, the man at the yard says it is an Allison, it don't look like a th400 to me. And Yeah Baby, an inline pump with intercooler. Best part is it was hit in the a$$. Nothing is damaged and is all there and running with all the accessories. I need this for my '57 D-100 project. What do you think it's worth. This guy has a good line on trucks so I'll help out if someone needs to find something. He also has a 8. 3 in a little Peterbilt that's complete. This is FUN!

Sounds like an awsum find!!

I will keep you in mind when I get the time to build a truck. I think a 4bt would be great in a Dakota or an S-10. hmmm.....

Where is the yard at that has the 8. 3? It wouldn't be Tommy's Truck Parts in New Alexandia would it?



An 8. 3 would make a nice power plant in my 51 two ton chevy.

I have a 70 crew cab. . turns out my neighbor has an old drilling rig he's gonna junk... 4x4 2ton axles that fit my era of dodge!!! cheap!!!



I'm thinking of putting my body on that chassis and making a 6 door.



All I need now is a 8. 3...
