You do realize that the 4" exhaust will not result in earthshaking performance don't you? Fact is you may notice only the change in sound. The 4" payback comes when you start to add all the other goodies.

Thanks QRTRHRS,you are probably right about the earthshaking performance but my main interest was about emissions,if I went to 4in from turbo back would my truck pass

the emission test that CT has just started back up?

squeezer242,

Do a search on emissions. If memory serves, there has been some discussion from the CT members on this.

QRTRHRS,Thanks for the heads up on checking the Ct emissions, how did this slip by

me?will let you know if I come up with anything.

Yes, emissions testing here in Ct has started again. :(

The exhaust size won't have anything to do with passing or not.

I easily passed the first time last year.

I also went thru with vssman and his 96 and he had no problem.

We both made some "detuning" adjustments before we got there.

I rotated my fuel pin to "dog" position. (VE pump)

vssman disconnected the boost line to his afc control.

I guess we figured better play it safe just in case.

We both went to a place in Bethlehem which was good for us as we work in Watertown (he no longer does). I made a few calls and chose this place because they said I could stand next to the truck while they did the test. The other places I went to took the truck into another remote area for the test. . only visable via a tv monitor... no sound.

Anyway this technician did not believe in really running the rpm up. He only ran mine up to about 1400 to get the readings.

vssman's had to go on the rollers, but it looked likeonly about 35 mph.

The tech said he had only seen one diesel fail... an old Mercedes that literally filled the garage with smoke.

All others had passed.

Hope this helps a little.

Jay

Thanks Jay,you gave me a little piece of mind, don`t know when i`ll have to go for the emission test but i`ll keep the dog position in mind before I go. It smokes a little now but it runs good.
