Ive got the stock gov spring out and ready to install the 4k bottom spring retainer. Which way does it go in?? Does the bigger radius end go in first and the smaller snout point up or is it the other way around. Snout first, big radius end up??

Need help fast, I got to get this buttoned up , tuned, and drive tomorrow to work.

Thanks,

Chad

Whew, looks like I got it right. After looking at it closer it looks like the the snout goes up so the little spring rides on the snout, the next larger spring rides on the groove outside of that and then the next larger spring rides on the outer diameter of the guide. Then of course the largest spring goes over top of everything. Cool, thanks for the help FC.

Fired it up and it idles much lower. Barely runs because idle is so low. I adjusted the idle so it runs much better now. Is this normal??? What causes the change in idle. I'm sure because of the GSK but why? Havent drove it yet. Cant wait.

Chad

Got it fired up. Fixed the idle. Now it runs really good and smooth. Only diffrence besides the added RPM is the throttle is VERY sensitive. Just checking if this is normal. What kind of tuning can I do with this thing. Will tightening the nut or lossening it do any good / bad??

Chad

If I remember correctly, (been a couple years), tightening will raise the idle, loosening will lower it. When I first put mine in, I had them too tight, and the throttle was really touchy. After I loosened them a little, the throttle wasn't so touchy any more. I have mine adjusted at two clicks.

My throttle is very touchy as well with the 4gsk. I have heard that loosening the springs a click or two makes a big difference. With load range G tires, and a 1ton suspension, it can become rather difficult to drive the truck over severe bumps with the touchiness of the throttle. There is always something left to do ... .....
