Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 4kgsk with auto

What do yall think of running a 4k gsk with an auto would it make a difference i dont think the transmission would let the rpms go high enough to benefit from it a whole lot more than the 3k kit. What do you guys think

I always install the 4k springs and valve springs, and it is one of the best mods as far as improved driveability there is. When towing with the 4k it is a dream come true, good from mild to wild.

hmmm i have been wondering about the very same thing cause my auto shifts right around 2900-3000rpm, and i was looking to uprgrade to the 4k kit, but never found out if it will allow the engine to rev out more before the transmission shifts. maybe theres something that can be modified on the vavle body to allow the transmission to do this?

Transmission shift points are controlled by throttle valve pressure. The higher the pressure the later the shift. It can all be set seperate from the engine rpms up to a point by adjusting the kick down cable and/or VB mods.



If you want it to shift at 3400 it can be set up to do it. What it will do the drive line pieces is the next question. The stock flex plates tend to tear the centers out under high loads. The stock converter is bad enough but a triple disk packs even more stored energy spinning that fast.

The 4k springs rev slower off the bottom than the 3k springs. Given that, I would go with the 3k kit if you have an auto transmission and a tight TC (which you do ).
