I have a 2003 3500 srw with the 6 speed transmission and it seems like shifting into 4th gear is too difficult. The truck has only 1900 miles on it, will this get better or is it normal? Maybe this is just a characteristic of the 6 speed, but my 2001 3500 drw 5 speed has always shifted just fine. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

4th

My 04 6sp is kinda tough to get 4th also. But I do not think anything is wrong. I believe it is more of just simply getting used to it . Especially after driving the 5sp. :)

My 6sp was a little notchy going into third when I first got it. The transmission does smooth out over time. It's hard to say where the cut-off would be between a problem and what is considered normal. It might be worth mentioning to the service department in case it doesn't get better.

These are sure nice to play with though.

my 6 was stiff as heck when new, but after 1000 km on it, it smoothed out real good. sometimes if i don't have the clutch pushed right down, it can be harder to get into gear sometimes, but normally not a problem, and coming down is ok too when you blip the throttle to match the rev's better. .
