Stand by it all you want I said "People in the market just get a 3500!" I did NOT in any way direct my comment to YOU or ANYONE with a 2500.

Sorry to upset you.

Actually, you did. You directed your response to the OP who has a 2500.......And I'm not upset at all. I like the entertainment. :-laf

Have you been listening to "do what I do, buy what I bought" advice on the internet again? :D

Nope....When I bought my 2014 truck, I had actually gone to get some battery cables for my 2001 truck, which I was perfectly happy with, and they just happened to be unloading a white 3500 crew cab with an aisin, off the transporter.....

I was weak......:-laf

I called Timbren today, they are sending me another set that is 3/4" shorter than the what I have. They said if that did not work out for me they would refund my money.

Glad to see they're working with you. Make you you post back about how they fit and ride. :)

With the hitch and generator in the bed of the truck along with the pin weight the rear axel is at 5K#. It rides level but I would like it a little stiffer in the back end that's why I am trying the timbrens. When I get the replacement timbrens installed I'll report how they work out.

I have had the replacement timbrens on for two days and they are great. There is right at 1" space between the timbren and the stop plate. The timbrens are 3/4" shorter and the diameter is 1/4" less than the dr2500D, just perfect for my use. Stock ride unloaded, with the 5er pin weight the timbrens start to touch the stop plate on the axel.

My opinion is your truck is sitting perfect for towing. To stiffen up the ride I would highly recommend Bilstein 4600's. Then if that is not enough bags with about 25-30 psi loaded. I think the shocks will be the best bet.

I've got the timbrens on it, rides same as stock right now. The RV will get a good pull next week I'll decide after that pull if I'll go with the shock / airbag option. I had bags on my previous truck along with Bilstein 5100 shocks that did a good job. I don't want to loose the stock ride when empty. If the timbrens fail the rv test I think bags will be next.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully you like how the new Timbrens springs work. I love mine.....but just as you did, I had Timbren send me some new springs which fit my need better than what the kit for my truck came with.
As for shocks, I have Rancho 9000's which are adjustable. When unloaded I leave the rears set pretty soft and the truck rides pretty smooth, but when I've got the 5th wheel hooked up I'll crank up the rear shocks as stiff as they go. That "stiffness" is what keeps the chucking in reasonable check. Too soft and the truck suspension allows the trailer to repeatedly dip during road bumps which is transmitted back in the truck as chucking. Nonetheless, hope everything works out for ya. And have fun on your trip too. :)

Staying with the timbrens. After a 600 mi round trip I will keep the timbrens and add nothing else. With a total of 5300# on the rear axel the truck rides great with the replacement timbrens. 1700# 5th wheel pin, 150# hitch & 100# generator in the bed. Rough roads and railroad tracks are not an issue so long as one uses a little common sense. Did I say I was totally happy with the timbrens.

Josephc1,
Thanks for being the guinnea pig. Can you give us the CORRECT part number for the Timbren kit you ended up with? I'd rather avoid the hassle of returning the wrong part. I would appreciate it.

I also like my Timbrens very much. The best part is no maintenance or leaks.

I think the original order was "DR2500D I think". They road very harsh with an empty truck. I called them they sent a set 3/4" shorter than the originals and worked out great. No part numbers, paper work or mounts. Just the rubber timbrens in the box.

I just installed a set on mine, definitely not right. No spacer used empty truck and they are touching the base plate. Truck has less than 50K miles with light use on hauling. I bought it used with45K and haven't hooked it up to my fiver yet! I'll call timbren tomorrow and check to make sure I've got the right ones, CR2500A is the number.

I had the same issue. Give them a call, they will make it right.

Poke around in the RV forums and you'll see that adding airbags or Timbrens is common practice to 3500's just as much as it is on 2500 trucks. Just because its a 1 ton doesn't mean the suspension isnt going to need some reinforcement in supporting a 3000+ lb pin weight 5th wheel or a 3500+ lb camper.

I do not find that true on the new 2013+ RAM 3500's. Ford yes, just about every one bags Ford's including the new 2017's. I am towing with my 2015 3500 SRW with close to the 7K RGAWR without sagging rear springs and see no need for them, as the 39'4" 16K 5th wheel tows just fine. SNOKING

I bought a set of timbrens back in 2006 for my 2006 2500. Have used the same set on my 2006, then my 2009, and now on my 2016. They still work perfect 3 trucks and 11 years later.
